Bahá’í singles by region

North America

The United States has our largest community by far, followed by Canada. Many members are near cities with active Bahá’í communities, such as Chicago and its Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Toronto and Vancouver. If you live in North America, you are likely to find members within driving distance.

Europe

The United Kingdom and Germany have the largest groups of members in Europe, with smaller communities in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden and elsewhere. Many European members are open to dating across borders, which is easier with short flights and train links.

Australia and the Pacific

Australia has one of our larger communities, alongside New Zealand. Sydney is home to a Bahá’í House of Worship, and members across the region often connect through Bahá’í summer schools and gatherings.

Africa

Members in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Namibia and Egypt make Africa one of our fastest-growing regions. Kampala, home to the Mother Temple of Africa, has a long-established Bahá’í community.

Asia and the Middle East

India and Malaysia have the largest groups in Asia, with members also in China, the United Arab Emirates and Iran, the birthplace of the Faith. New Delhi’s Lotus Temple is one of the best-known Bahá’í Houses of Worship in the world.

Latin America

Mexico has our largest group in Latin America, with members across Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Dating across countries

Because Bahá’ís are spread so widely, many Bahá’í couples meet across borders. If you find someone special in another country:

  • Talk early about where you might live and what each of you would be willing to change.
  • Video chat regularly so you get to know each other’s character, not only messages.
  • Meet each other’s families, even online at first. Parental consent is part of Bahá’í marriage, so family relationships matter.
  • Plan visits around Bahá’í events such as Holy Days, summer schools or conferences, where you can see each other in community life.
  • Check visa and immigration rules early if you are thinking about marriage.

For more on getting to know someone in a Bahá’í way, read the Bahá’í dating and courtship guide, our guide to Bahá’í marriage and these questions to ask before marriage. If your partner is of another faith, see Bahá’í interfaith marriage.

Common questions

Can I search for Bahá’í singles in my country?

Yes. After you create a free profile, you can search members by country, state and city.

Is Bahá’í Mingle only for Bahá’ís?

No. Bahá’í Mingle welcomes Bahá’ís and friends of the Faith: people who share Bahá’í values or are interested in learning more.

My country isn’t listed. Can I still join?

Of course. Members in smaller communities are counted under “other countries”. Joining helps your local community grow, and many members are happy to connect internationally.

How often are the numbers updated?

The figures are calculated automatically from active profiles and refreshed twice a day.
